The view of the island from the 500 ft tall zip-line.
Riding up to the zip-line...
Ok, I just had the best day I've had in a looong time!! I got to spend about 4 1/2 hours with John today on Labadee!! I can't believe it worked out so perfectly. Security agreed to let me off the ship on the very first tender at 7:30 (we're not supposed to get off until open tendering, which is usually around 9:30ish) so I was on the island by 7:45 am! Then, John's buddy Tony offered to take his 8 am zip-line tour so that John and I could spend the morning together! I had rehearsal at 10:30, so we were together until then, and I was straight back off the ship by 12 pm to spend the afternoon with him. :) He did end up having to do a tour at 2:30, but that actually worked out well because there were only 3 people on it so I was able to go too! I ZIP-LINED from 500 ft up!!! That's right - ME - who's scared of heights!! It was actually AMAZING. I loved it! I zip-lined the longest line that goes over water in the WORLD! - and it was 500 ft up! Geeeeeez ~ Anyway, it was soooo good to spend some time with John again. Just reminded me of why we care so much about each other.~
Other than that, the shows went really well tonight. Tomorrow night is my "summer breeze" set, so once that's out of the way the pressure will die down a little bit! Finally - it'll be about polishing everything I've learned, and no more learning anything new!
Let's see, OH - Mrs. S, the Jewel goes to: Miami, Florida; Oranjestad, Aruba; Cartagena, Colombia; Panama Canal (Cruising Canal); Cristobal Pier, Panama; Puerto Limon, Costa Rica; and George Town, Grand Cayman until May. Then we transition and go to : Kings Wharf, Bermuda; Lisbon, Portugal; Vigo, Spain; Cherbourg, France; Harwich, England, Copenhagen, Denmark; Stockholm, Sweden; Helsinki, Finland; St. Petersburg, Russia; Tallinn, Estonia; and Oslo, Norway. Isn't that amazing?? It's gonna be GREAT that last month!! I mean, it's great now because it's warm, but I can't wait to see some of those places.
Well, that's all I know for now. I'll keep you posted! More to come of course~

OH MY WORD, KRISTIAN!!!!!!!! I was so excited to hear about your day with John and see pictures of you and John, but then you told me WHERE YOU WERE GOING!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! How awesome is that? You are going to some incredible places! PLEASE get off the ship and see them!!! - Columbia, Portugal, Spain, France, England, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Russia, Estonia, Bermuda, Aruba and the Panama Canal. WOW!!!
I have sung in Estonia's concert hall and also in Russia, but we did not go to St. Petersburg, which I understand is gorgeous!
Now, Kristian, we must have pictures of all these places - at least one of each place...Please... and don't forget posterity. Make sure that you are doing something with your record keeping that your children can enjoy - i.e. saving and printing these blogs (when you get home), keeping photos, if you collect items from each port, make sure that you'll have enough room in your house for them. Whatever suits your fancy, make sure that you are preserving your memories in some tangible way. Your children will want to read about your impressions of places and see pictures of you in those places - don't forget~ its so easy to live in the moment and when your children ask you about this place or that or what you did, you might not remember exactly or have nothing to show for it. Your kids will LOVE IT when they get to be impressed with the things their Mama did when she was in her 20s.
It is so cool to see TJ discover something new about me that he never knew until someone mentions something about something I have done in the past, or, when he does a project on Switzerland and I pull out my photos of Lucerne with me there. It is a wonderful thing to share with your children. Don't forget to mark it down and have tangible evidence of this journey for them to enjoy!
OK - long enough - I'll do another blog - Love, Mrs. Stricklin
Now, on to your four hours with John! What a great day!!! The zip-line is amazing! I am so proud of you for zipping 500 ft. up in the air - I, too am afraid of heights. I would have been terrified! I know that it was an amazing experience - and what you must have seen on the way down flying past you!!!
I am so happy that you had a chance to spend time with John. It was such a special day - I can feel it all the way here in Alabama...
Labadee is gorgeous! How wonderful that you are in a warm climate and how great it will be to spend the summer cruising to places like Norway, Russia and Europe. Europe in August is really wonderful - most days are in the 70's, clear, crisp and sunny - at least that's what I experienced when I was there on the USO tour and choir tour. England was cold in April, as was Russia, like our winters in Alabama - but nothing a coat won't fix! Its all beautiful! I can't wait for you to see it and experience it! I also can't wait to see your pictures of all the places you go and read about your impressions of those places. I can't wait to see photos of places I've never been. The photos you have sent are wonderful and it makes me feel like I'm there.
Back to John - he is so handsome! You two make a beautiful couple! I hope that you can find more opportunities to go see him soon. I bet his Australian accent is to die for~am I right?
OK - I could ramble on for days, but you would fall asleep reading it, so I'll close. Have a great day, break a leg tonight on the Summer Breeze set. I am so happy that your learning new music is almost over. Then it is all about perfecting your craft as the days go by and experiencing places that you have never been to before. I am excited for you.
Keep us updated!
Love, Mrs. S.
